# Role Hierarchy

This page shows the role hierarchy in your organization. Higher roles can see data from the roles below them, but not the other way round.

**Note:** users can view their own data and the data of their subordinate roles, but cannot view data from parent roles.

#### Creating a new role

Click **+ Create Role**, then fill in:

1. **Role Name:** the name of the role (up to 50 characters).
2. **Reports To:** the role above it in the hierarchy.
3. **Share data with peers:** turn this on if users with the same role can see each other's data.
