WhatsApp Flow

WhatsApp Flows is a Meta feature that lets you send interactive forms right inside a WhatsApp chat. Customers can fill in details, choose options, or complete things like bookings, surveys or sign-ups, all without leaving WhatsApp.

In Cekat, you can send WhatsApp Flows in two ways: as a broadcast using a template, or directly from the WA Flows page while the conversation window is still open.

1. Getting ready: generate an encryption key

Before you can use WhatsApp Flows, you need to generate an encryption key for each WhatsApp inbox you want to use.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Connected Platforms.

  1. Choose the WhatsApp inbox you want to use.

  1. Scroll down to WhatsApp Flows Configuration.

  1. Click Generate Encryption Keys.

  2. Once the key is generated, the inbox is ready for WhatsApp Flows.

Note: you only need to generate the encryption key once per inbox.

2. Creating a WhatsApp Flow

There are three ways to create a flow. Choose the one that suits you:

A. Cekat Flow Builder (Beta)

A visual builder right inside Cekat. It's great for simple flows, but keep in mind it's still in beta, so some components may be missing or not yet stable.

How to use it:

  1. Go to Broadcast > WA Flows.

  1. Click Create Flow.

  1. Open your new flow, then click the edit icon (Upload Flow JSON).

  1. Choose the Builder (Beta) tab.

  1. Add the screens and components you need.

  1. Click Save when you're done.

B. Meta Flow Playground

A Meta tool for trying out flows visually before you publish them. Some components may not be available in the playground.

How to use it:

  1. Open the link above.

  2. Build your flow with the available components.

  3. Download the JSON from the playground.

  4. Upload the JSON to Cekat through the Editor tab in the Upload Flow JSON window.

The most complete option, with access to every available component. You can create, set up and publish flows directly in Meta's WhatsApp Manager. Flows you publish there appear automatically in Cekat when you create a template.

Create a flow: WhatsApp Manager > Flows

How to use it:

  1. Open WhatsApp Manager > Flows.

  2. Click Create Flow and fill in the flow details.

  3. Build the flow with the JSON editor or Meta's builder.

  4. Publish the flow directly from WhatsApp Manager.

  5. Published flows are automatically available in Cekat when you create a template.

  6. Or, if you also want to manage the flow in Cekat, copy the JSON from WhatsApp Manager and paste it into the Editor tab in Cekat.

3. Sending a flow by broadcast (template)

Use this to send a flow to lots of recipients at once with a broadcast template. You'll need to attach the flow to a template first.

Steps:

  1. Go to Broadcast > Template Message.

  1. Click Add Template to create a new template.

  2. Fill in the template name, and choose the platform and category.

  1. Scroll to Buttons, then click + Add Button.

  1. Choose WhatsApp Flow from the button type dropdown.

  1. Fill in the Button Text and choose a published flow from the dropdown.

  1. Click Add to save the button.

  2. Finish the template and submit it to Meta for review.

  3. Once the template is approved, use it when you create a broadcast campaign.

Note: only flows with the Published status appear in the dropdown.

4. Sending a flow directly (without a template)

If the conversation window with the customer is still open (within 24 hours), you can send a flow directly without a template.

Steps:

  1. Go to Broadcast > WA Flows.

  2. Find the flow you want to send (make sure it's Published).

  3. Click the three-dot (...) icon in the Actions column.

  1. Choose Send Flow.

  2. Fill in the sending details: choose Recipients (a recipient list or manual entry), Header Text (optional), Body Text, Footer Text (optional) and CTA Button Label.

  1. Click Send Flow.

Note: the Send Flow option only appears for flows with the Published status. Draft or Deprecated flows can't be sent.

5. What the customer sees

Once the flow is sent, the customer receives a WhatsApp message with a CTA button. When they tap it, the interactive form opens right inside WhatsApp, with no need to open a browser or another app.

6. Good to know and limitations

  • The Cekat Flow Builder is still in beta. For production use and access to every component, we recommend building in WhatsApp Manager.

  • Only flows with the Published status can be sent to customers.

  • Sending directly (Send Flow) only works while the conversation window is open (within 24 hours of the customer's last message on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook).

  • Files you've uploaded as knowledge can't be replaced directly. Delete them first, then upload again.

  • Website links you've added can't be edited. Delete them first, then add a new link.

  • If you're using Dynamic Flow, you'll need to set up a Dynamic Flow Endpoint in Connected Platforms first.
