# Cekat Open API

Connect your systems to Cekat to chat with customers, send WhatsApp broadcasts, and manage contacts, orders and tickets.

The Cekat Open API is a REST API that returns JSON. You can use it to:

* **Chat with customers.** Read conversations and messages, send WhatsApp messages, and choose which AI agent replies. See [Conversation](/api-documentation/chat/conversation.md) and [Message](/api-documentation/chat/message.md).
* **Send WhatsApp messages at scale.** Create templates, upload recipient lists, run broadcast campaigns, and track delivery and replies. See [Broadcast](/api-documentation/chat/broadcast.md).
* **Manage contacts.** Create, update and search contacts, and read or write their custom properties. See [Contact](/api-documentation/crm/contact.md).
* **Sync your CRM.** Read and write items on your custom CRM boards, such as deals or leads. See [Board](/api-documentation/crm/board.md).
* **Take orders.** Create orders with invoices and payment links, and update their status. See [Orders](/api-documentation/orders.md).
* **Handle support tickets.** Create, list and update tickets and the products attached to them. See [Tickets](/api-documentation/tickets.md).
* **Train and test your AI agents.** Manage their Q\&A knowledge and test their replies. See [AI](/api-documentation/ai.md).

## Quickstart

1. Get your API key from **Settings → Developers & API** in the [Cekat dashboard](https://chat.cekat.ai/developers?section=apikeys).
2. Make your first request: list your connected inboxes.

3. Copy the `id` of your WhatsApp inbox. You'll use it as `inbox_id` when you create templates and send messages.

## Good to know

* Send your key in the `api_key` header on every request, and keep it secret. See [Authentication](/api-documentation/authentication.md).
* Write phone numbers as digits with the country code, such as `6281234567890`. See [Phone numbers](/api-documentation/formats.md).
* Errors return `success: false` and a message in `error.message`. See [Errors](/api-documentation/errors.md).
* Requests are rate-limited per key. If you get a `429`, wait and retry.
